Operation Christmas Child Service Project

Our Troop partners with Samaritan’s Purse every Christmas season to deliver hope to kids around the world through Operation Christmas Child.  The goal of our Troop is to provide these vital care packages along with the Good News of Jesus Christ to those in need.  Service is a key part of Trail Life and this is a tangible way we can mobilize to communicate a life-changing message.

How Can You Help?

Our Troop provides approximately 50 shoeboxes for boys ages 5-9.  Operation Christmas Child provides a suggested packing list which the Troop uses to purchase items for consistency in the basic elements of each box.

Each year, we look for a corporate or individual sponsor to provide funding for the “Wow” toy gift ($5 per box) and we look to our Troop community to help with the remaining cost of the shoeboxes ($15 per box).

One way we add uniqueness to our boxes is by using business promotional items which might include:

  • Pens
  • Keychains
  • Cups
  • Notepads
  • Other novelty items

We host a packing party in mid-November and we encourage everyone to look for opportunities to gather items from local connections as donations, for example:

  • Combs or hairbrushes
  • Toothbrushes
  • Small towels / washcloths
  • Bandaids
  • Socks
  • Gloves
  • Sunglasses
  • School supplies
  • Small toys

Note: Operation Christmas Child cannot ship liquids or sharp pointed items

Completed boxes are delivered to a local drop-off location which begins their Greatest Journey around the world!

Seeking a sponsor!
